The low-pressure area (LPA) east of Surigao del Sur is seen to intensify into tropical depression on Sunday and will be codenamed "Jacinto," state weather bureau Pagasa said early Sunday morning.

At about 3 a.m., the LPA was estimated at 445 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
Pagasa's weather specialist Robert Badrina said that based on latest data, the LPA would become a tropical depression within the day (Sunday), and would head toward the Visayas and Mindanao areas.
LPA east of Surigao del Sur may intensify into tropical depression
The LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, and Davao Region.
It will move generally west-northwestward on Monday and may hit Visayas and Mindanao with moderate to at times heavy rain. Raising of Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal is possible, according to Pagasa.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon (habagat) slightly weakened, Badrina said.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have generally fair weather with partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
On the other hand, Tropical Storm Isang, which exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday, has intensified into Typhoon Kajiki.
As of 3 a.m., Kajiki was located 900 km west of Northern Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center with gustiness of up to 150 kph.
It has no direct effect on any part of the country, Pagasa said.
